The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) of the Ghana Armed Forces has launched training for its third and fourth cohorts at the Burma Camp Computer Centre. The program brings together both military and civilian staff of the Armed Forces and will provide practical instruction in key areas such as software development, computer networks, cybersecurity, and systems administration.
The training is part of an ongoing collaboration between the DIT and the Jackson Institute of Technology (JIT), Ghana’s only NIIT-authorised training centre. Delivered by JIT, the program forms part of a broader initiative to build internal capacity and ensure personnel are equipped with the technical expertise needed to meet modern operational demands.
As Ghana’s sole NIIT-authorised centre, JIT provides internationally recognised certification and tailored skills training designed to meet both individual and institutional needs.
An orientation session held at the Burma Camp Computer Centre gave participants an overview of the course structure, learning tools, and expectations. Speaking at the session, Captain Enock Boabeng Appianing, Training Officer at the DIT, highlighted the importance of the programme.
“This collaboration is part of a long-term plan. We are creating a path for our people to develop the skills that modern systems require. It is deliberate, focused and we believe it will make a difference,” he noted.
Running over several months, the programme will include project work, assessments, and certification. Its primary aim is to equip participants with the capacity to respond effectively to the evolving technology requirements of the Armed Forces.
Both the DIT and JIT have reaffirmed their shared commitment to delivering high-quality, practical training that matches the growing demand for digital expertise across sectors.
